Wordpress is one of the best Internet tools I’ve used in a very long time. It’s open source, it’s free, it’s simple to master, it behaves perfectly as a blogging platform and a content management system. You can build sites with it, you can build blogs with it and you can build hybrids with it.
The look of Wordpress can be changed easily and freely as well. To change the look and feel of Wordpress, designers and programmers are constantly developing new themes and templates. Some themes will cost you but there are 100x as many that are free. Expanding the functionality of Wordpress is easy as well, by way of adding plugins, or programs, that allow it perform tasks not included with the standard Wordpress program.
Wordpress is easy to install, even for beginners, and even when doing it the long way. But, there really is no reason to do it the long way these days. Well it’s not exactly a one click install, more like 2 or 3, but it’s fast, which is the point.
The procedure to install Wordpress the long way would be to create a MySQL database and note down the important information about it. Then you would upload the Wordpress install files by FTP or through the host CPanel. Then you would install Wordpress and provide it with the necessary info to utilize the database you created. With the short way, the database is created for you and the info Wordpress needs to add data to it, is done automatically. Additionally, the Wordpress files will be copied to your website directory for you.
OK, that’s good, you’ve got Wordpress installed and now you want to make money with it. A very popular way to get started making money with Wordpress is by becoming an eBay affiliate. A standard way to include eBay auctions into Wordpress, whether you are using it as a site or a blog or cross-breed, is by using the phpBay plugin.
When using phpbay you can very easily add eBay auctions to Wordpress posts and pages. Your affiliate ID will be attached to all outgoing auction links and you will receive a commission on the transaction fees of any winning bids, plus you get larger commissions for referring new customers to eBay.
